Welcome!
Welcome to The World Without....
We bring this blog to you in view of the fact that we take many things for granted and in the end become overdependent on them. We wish to highlight the significance of these things with each post. Please feel free to post your comments and suggestions as they would be invaluable to us.

Plastic
53 billion KW hours of electricity are saved annually by plastic applications in the consumer sector. All of us use plastics. Be it in the form of bags, bottles, wires, etc. Plastics play a vital role in our lives. They are cheap, quite stong, and extremely flexible. They can be stretched into any form of plastic. The main reason why they are commonly used-they are very affordable. We have seen that all the shopkeepers give us plastic bags to carry our items. Even plastic bottles are inexpensive and have changed the face of availability and affordability.
Almost everything now can be made out of plastic. But, as you have seen the concern of enviromentalists, plastics pollute the environment to a very high extent. Many of us throw away plastic bags after usage of the products. These little dreaded substances are cheap, but can clog drains to such an extent that flooding will increase drastically. These plastics also contain certain harmful elements mixed with polycarbonates which can harm your delicate organs.
So, plastics are affordable, but should be used within limits as they are dangerous if unwisely used. They help us a lot, and we cannot just avoid them or ban them. As long as we take care of our enviornment, plastics are the best option for packaging material and other applications.
Yes.... so the option we are left with is not to throw away plastics all together, but to reuse and recycle them judiciously so that they do not pollute the environment. A world without plastics would not have seen the revolutionary progress of humans. Throwing out plastics would be an unrealistic idea.
So I hope that you have developed some environmentally passionate feelings after reading this. The reason as to why this post has an environmental perspective is because people have the wrong view about plastic and are too extreme in their thnking.
Don't throw out the baby with the bath water....
Over the lifetime of the average car, plastic parts save 650 gallons or 2400 litres of gas as a result of light weight.Hopefully this post provoked some evocative feelings within you... Watch this space for more...

Currency
“Money is like a sixth sense - and you can't make use of the other five without it”
Can you imagine a world without currency? Without money? Right now, money is everything. No money, no means of enjoying life. We would be back to our old barter system where everyone would exchange goods for goods. Thinking about it, it seems to be a more peaceful world than the current world which is centred around the protagonist, which is money.
There would be no easy transfer or transactions. For example, you would go to the market to get 10 kilos of flour with 5 kilos of wheat to exchange. Sometimes no one would want what you had and you would not have access to any thing which you didn’t grow!
However, everything would become much more genuine, with no corruption, underhand charges, fake currency and more. Instead of dollar, the worldwide benchmark would become the cow! So, this world, one without money, would be the most interesting and the happiest world that we have spoken about till now.
There would be no people who did things just for the sake of money. People would become better people who look forward to self-development… The world would be a happier place with better people all around us. Hopefully this post aroused some wonderful feelings within all of you...
“So you think that money is the root of all evil. Have you ever asked what is the root of all money?”

Vehicles
"Oh .....you are going that way? Let me drop you. I just got my new car." "I am in a hurry.........i need to DRIVE fast now." These are the most common lines one would ever speak if they had a vehicle. Most of the people in the world own a vehicle.........however small it may be.
Transportation is related to time now. The faster you travel....the more it is beneficial. What if a genie came on earth.......decided never to introduce us to such transporting devices.......and the whole world would have to walk?
That would be beneficial as most of busy men and women could exercise without wasting any of their precious time. But........are all of our legs suited to do so much of walking? In the earlier times, for every 95 people walking on the road, there was 1 car (true fact). Now, for every 1 person walking on the road, there are about 20 vehicles!
Mention should also be made of the fact that after the mid 80s, even the number of aeroplanes, trains, cars increased drastically. Walking for even short distances became an unpopular practise amongst the ones who could afford vehicles.
Then came the revolutionary 90s. Nobody was willing to walk even for short distances. Using vehicles was important, is important and will remain important.
None of us can avoid it. We cannot just live without vehicles. Transportation across the city, or state, or the country has become easier after the invention of vehicles. We think vehicles should be given more praise than what they actually deserve. That is the human mindest, forgetting something extremely important once they have struck something else. This is what we want to highlight.
Think about it. Considering cycles as vehicles as well...........think about how a compartment on wheels with a mechanism for movement has changed our lives. After all...........we are dependent on them.
However, we would like to take due notice of the fact that we must use vehicles judiciously, in order to face the environmental crisis that is looming ahead.....

Friction
This one is an absolute gem... Just try to imagine to this..... Amazing, isn't it? For all those who don't know what friction is, it is the force which stops moving objects when they rub against another object. This friction is pivotal in stopping vehicles. If not for it, all objects would be perpetual motion.
Just taking one step would mean that one would never be able to stop....!! Some people have said that machines will be come very efficient with no wastage of energy, but friction is the force that is so important that we would not have been able to progress a little bit without it......
The amazing part is that one will need rocket packs to stop moving, that too, in the opposite direction in which one is moving.... Usually, in our world, we need rocket packs to go quick, isn't it? Well, just one jump would take you to outer space!!! It would be one small step from you, but a giant leap as well!
Leaving the jokes aside, I would seriously like to ask you if you confidently think that you can live a usual life without friction? Yeah, I do hope that this post evoked some thoughts in you. Watch this space for more.....

Mobile Phones
Most of our lives revolve around gadgets. Be it i-pods, playstations, etc. (we are technically challenged, so please excuse us for not mentioning more gadgets!!!). This brings us to our topic, mobile phones. First, life might come to a standstill. About 70% of the world use mobiles for a minimum of 3 hours. It can be teenagers, using it for messaging(like we do it), or corporates who have inbuilt internet in it, living online,24X7. Whether it is for chatting unnecessarily, or long-distance calls between army menand their families, mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives.
Speaking in terms of its absence, everybody would have to had to travel long distances to meet each other. Yeah, one can chat or IM either....... Even VoIP can be used.......
Plus, there wouldn't have been teens boasting off their different models of phones!!
Corporates would always turn on their laptops for small issues, which could have been solved. Some mobiles are a combination of two or more gadgets. They have an inbuilt camera, music player and others(technically challenged). That is what is worth boasting off for teens in terms of number of features. Even your taxi driver would be having a mobile phone.
The good thing is that all researchers would be happy as they wouldn't have had to re-search on one other topic. Another thing is that terrorists woldn't have had access to mobile phones.....which means no communication between them!
Jokes aside, mobile phones are quintessential in one's technical life. If there are none...............ICE AGE is back. Watch this space for more evocative thoughts.....

Education
Oh My God! That is one amazing topic!!! A world without education….. No science, social, language to bug you any more, but you would be amazed to realise that we would not be able to keep up with our present lifestyles without education….
There would be absolutely no new discoveries or inventions and no interesting things in the world, not even television shows!!! Digressing from funny ideas, the serious ideas would be that humans would slowly disintegrate and become like any other species on the planet! Have you read ‘The Time Machine’ by H.G.Wells?? That indicates exactly this fact. There would be no feature of humans that separate them from animals.
We humans would not be able to enjoy the comforts of living and survival that we enjoy today!!! There would be no means of communication with other humans without one educating the other. The term education also refers to learning here as it is worthy only when it is passed on from one person to another.
So, we feel that more importance is to be paid to education now as we feel that interest in education is diminishing….. Also, we would like to thank all educators and teachers a lot as they are the ones persevering to spread the glorious and honourable realm of education. Media
Why don't we think about a world without Media?? Well, the outcome of this discussion is quite different that the others that we have thought about. Who does not criticize media for showing the same gruesome clippings of a paticular topic over and over again? We do. One must openly agree to that fact.
All of the people in the world who can afford any form of media(television, interent, paper) are irritated that they keep on repeating the same news with other facts of other related incidents using fancy music, interviews, many other creative ideas. We think mediapersons must join fashion designing or interior designing;their creativity skills are really good.
To begin with, we have seen many people associating media with television. There are many other forms of media, right? Many channels broadcast the punchline "What's making news?" It is actually them who are making news if there isn't anything to broadcast! They want to captivate the viewers attention.
And if there is something to broadcast, they go overboard. For example, 26/11 attacks;all the channels started showing the events, and then started criticizing the coastal patrol, the mumbai government, etc. for their inefficiency.
And many channels repeat the same news, calling it "Breaking News".Breaking news is supposed to be used when something out of the ordinary and suddenly happens. Media is the only form of entertainment, other than silly reality shows! If you see, some channels broadcast news as if it were a movie, with music, lighting, people speaking in funny voices, etc.
The only negative, if any, arising from the lack of media is we would not get to know what is happening around the world. We would request media(emphasis on news channels) to narrate news in an understanding manner, without glorifying it or adding special effects to news!

Trees
Hi! After our first few posts, we are delighted to entertain you with more. This time we have chosen something which will even please environmentalists! Trees, our third topic, are very essential for any of us to exist. Without trees, once again, we wouldn't be there to give you this capital entertainment as well as enlightenment.
Without trees, you wouldn't be getting any food, global temperatures would be soaring and your life would be like a hollow potato in an oven. No oxygen for you to breathe, but one very intelligent person has told me that humans can adapt to live without it. By being anaerobic bacteria, I suppose!
Trees cause rainfall and not having them will result in students like us losing the holidays we get because of heavy rainfall. The whole world would be a desert, devoid of any interest. Geography would become mototonous about deserts and God knows what History will be! Slowly, this barren land of ours will become more and more like Mars.
Hey!!! We might have just discovered the history of Mars! The hunt for life won;t be other planets, but on our very Earth! In fact, other aliens would be hunting for life on Earth.
The positives would be that no hectic studying for Social Science, no more winters (which means that you can eat mangoes all through the year!!), no more bugging pests to fight off... but as a matter of fact, you wouldn't even be alive!
Yeah, it's tough to imagine a world without trees, but don't worry... Before the trees diappear, you'll disappear! Hope you enjoyed this! Watch this space for more.
